Portuguese Federation of Social Institutions Connected to the Prevention of Drug Addiction

FPAT – Portuguese Federation of Social Institutions Connected to the Prevention of Drug Addiction is a representative organ of the institutions which work in the prevention, treatment and social integration of the drug addicts and it is also a Family oriented Institution with generical representativity.

The aim of FPAT is to dynamize the work of the institutions who act in the prevention, treatment and social integration of drug addicts, working together with the IDT - Drug Addiction Institute.

FPAT promotes the interest and the expectations of the institutions which work in the prevention area and fight against the drug addictions and, at the same time, promotes the dignity of the human kind and the human rights, giving support to the drug addicts and their families.

For FPAT it is imperative to fight against the risk factors, fortifying the protection and prevention factors through the articulation of the work of all the partners involved.

The prevention is the recognition, the creation and the promotion of the development and the increase of the economical and social changes. An intervention centred only in the drug addiction is insufficient. People have to become able to face a new life project, where the persons feel accepted, loved, valorised, responsible and free.
